Comment spam on blogs is a just part of the cost of doing business if you have a blog. The purpose of my site is to show just now dumb the spammers. The sites that publish the spam are also part of the problem, as if no one approved the comments, then there would be no incentive to spam. Comments are an important part of having a blog, engaging with visitors. Unfortunately, you have to wade through the cesspool to find the legitimate comments.
How to protect against the comment spam:
1) The obvious way is to just turn comments off! Don’t accept them. However, that is not practical for most as most blogger want to engage with their visitors.
2) WordPress comes installed with Askimet, so activate that as its one of the first lines of defense
